The AI Stack for Recruiters
The short version: recruiting is a volume business where the margin lives in response rates and turnaround time. The four tools below cover outreach, interview capture, pipeline, and scheduling for about $125/month, most of which is the ATS, around what one placed candidate returns a hundred times over. Two compliance notes are woven in, because they're where careless AI use actually costs recruiters: recording consent and automated screening rules.
1. Claude: the writing half of recruiting, handled
Our pick · No affiliate program · We earn $0 recommending this
Claude (Pro plan)
$20/month · claude.ai
Recruiting runs on words: outreach messages, job descriptions, client submissions, Boolean search strings. Claude's edge is personalization at volume that doesn't read like personalization at volume. Feed it a candidate's public profile and the role, and get an opener about their actual work rather than "I came across your impressive background." A Project holding your niche, tone, and past winning messages compounds the effect.

2. Metaview: interview notes built for this job
Not yet an affiliate link · pays us $0 today
Metaview (Notetaker)
Pro last confirmed at ~$60/month per user; Metaview no longer publishes a Notetaker price (September 2026) · metaview.ai
This one needs a caveat now. Metaview has repositioned as an agentic recruiting platform, and the only tiers on its pricing page are for the sourcing agent ($0 for the first 100 profiles, $100 per user a month for 200, $300 for unlimited). The notetaker is sold inside a bundle that is quoted rather than listed, so we can no longer point you at a published figure, and we have removed the free-tier call allowance we used to quote because we can no longer confirm it. Ask them what the notetaker costs on its own before you budget for it.
A general notetaker gives you a transcript. Metaview is built for interviews, and it structures candidate conversations into the fields you actually submit: experience claims, motivations, compensation expectations, notice period. Screen-call writeups that took 20 minutes arrive drafted before you're back from refilling your coffee, in shape to paste into the ATS or a client email.
3. Recruit CRM: the pipeline, out of the spreadsheet

Recruit CRM (Pro)
$95/user/month, Business $135 (verified September 2026 against US pricing; Recruit CRM advertises up to 20% off on annual billing) · recruitcrm.io
ATS and client CRM in one, sized and priced for solo and small-agency desks. The AI features earn their keep in the boring places: resume parsing into clean profiles, candidate matching against open roles, and email sequencing tied to pipeline stages, so follow-ups happen because the system remembered, not because you did.
4. Calendly: the scheduling email chain, deleted
Not an affiliate · pays us $0 · Free tier covers low volume
Calendly (Standard)
$0–10/month (Standard $10 month to month, $8.30 billed annually) · calendly.com
The average interview takes seven emails to schedule; a booking link takes zero. Candidates self-book screens, clients self-book debriefs, time zones resolve themselves, and reminders cut no-shows. The category standard for a reason, and the free tier is genuinely enough until interview volume says otherwise.
What we considered and rejected
| Tool | Why it didn't make the stack |
|---|---|
| LinkedIn Recruiter | Not rejected, assumed. You almost certainly already pay for it, and nothing here replaces it as the sourcing database. This stack is what goes around it. If choosing, buy Recruiter Lite before any of this. |
| hireEZ / SeekOut | Serious AI sourcing platforms at team pricing. Worth it at agency scale; overkill for a solo desk that lives in LinkedIn anyway. |
| Fathom (for recruiting) | A close call: our consultant-stack pick, and its free tier is the budget fallback here. Metaview's recruiting-specific structure (submission-ready fields, ATS pushes) won the head-to-head for this profession. |
| Loxo | Credible Recruit CRM rival with strong sourcing data; pricing tilts toward teams. If you're already on it happily, don't switch for us. |
| AI screening/rejection tools | Category, not a product: anything that auto-rejects candidates is a compliance exposure (NYC Local Law 144 bias audits, EEOC liability) a solo recruiter does not want. Draft with AI; decide as a human. |
Common questions
Do I need to tell candidates I'm recording interviews with an AI notetaker?
Yes. Treat consent as mandatory everywhere. Many US states require two-party consent, GDPR requires transparency in Europe, and a candidate who discovers an undisclosed recorder trusts neither you nor your client afterward. One sentence at the top of the call: "I use a notetaker so I can pay attention instead of typing. OK with you?"
Can I use AI to screen or reject candidates automatically?
Be very careful. Automated employment decision tools face specific and growing rules: NYC's Local Law 144 requires bias audits, and EEOC guidance makes discriminatory outcomes your liability even when a tool made the call. Use AI to draft, summarize, and organize; keep a human making every advance/reject decision. It's also just better recruiting.
Why isn't LinkedIn Recruiter in the stack?
Because you already have it, and no AI tool replaces it as the database. This stack is the layer around it: better messages into it, automatic notes out of the calls it books, and a pipeline that doesn't live in a spreadsheet.
The math
Full stack: ~$125/month on Metaview’s free tier, or ~$185 if the notetaker still costs what it did when we last saw a published price. That is Claude at $20, Recruit CRM at $95 per user, Calendly Standard at $10, and Metaview at $0 or roughly $60. Recruit CRM is the dominant cost by a distance, and it is the line to challenge first if the total looks steep. We previously published ~$95/month for the whole stack, which was wrong: it used a ~$40 figure for the ATS that the vendor page does not support. Recruit CRM re-verified September 2026 against US pricing, unchanged at $95 Pro and $135 Business. The honest lever has not changed: against an average placement fee, a year of tooling is a small fraction of one deal, and the question is whether faster submissions and sharper outreach win you one additional placement a year. If your desk is full and your response rates are fine, you do not need any of this.
